Woodlawn Central Development is introducing a New Gateway to Woodlawn.
The Woodlawn Central Development is an equitable mixed-use urban district and a new gateway to the broader Woodlawn community on Chicago’s South Side. It is a catalyst for urban regeneration in Woodlawn and sets the stage for future neighborhood reinvestment. Set along 63rd Street and adjacent to 63rd Street Station, Woodlawn Central is a transit-oriented district walkable to numerous major civic amenities, including the Obama Presidential Center, Jackson Park, Lake Michigan, and the University of Chicago.
The Woodlawn Central Development is an ambitious $895 million mixed-use project located at 63rd and Dorchester in Chicago’s South Side. This community-centric development aims to foster economic opportunity, protect cultural heritage, and promote sustainable growth in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
ACOG Ventures, the LLC entity of the Apostolic Church of God (ACOG), is self-developing the project to ensure the community remains at its heart. Phase One of Woodlawn Central will break ground later this year and include a mix of residential, commercial, and community spaces.
The development emphasizes equity and community-led growth, preventing displacement and promoting long-term stability for the church and the community. The project partners include P3 Markets and Bowa Construction, who bring expertise and a commitment to the project’s mission.
Woodlawn Central is designed to be a transit-oriented district that is walkable to major civic amenities such as the Obama Presidential Center, Jackson Park, Lake Michigan, and the University of Chicago. The development will prioritize sustainable building technologies and construction methods to minimize costs, carbon footprint, neighborhood disturbance, and construction timeframes.
